Group Project
I no longer have a group they felt like i cheatd so they put me out. However my professor is allowing me to do it on my own. My protion of the paper is on the big five persnoity traits. For exaple openness. MGT 729 – Group Project Assignment Managing Virtual Teams and Remote Employees
The trend toward virtual teams and remote work is not new. For decades, the offshoring of jobs and
globalization have necessitated collaboration across geographies. Sales teams have long had remote positions
and customer service jobs were widely available on a “work from home” basis. These jobs often had a low
need for remote staff development and a low probability of “advancement” in the traditional sense of moving
from individual contributor to manager of people.
The pandemic created a sudden experiment in remote work and distance leadership in roles that would not
have been considered “virtual” in the past. While some cultures have snapped back to pre-pandemic work
paradigms, many firms have maintained more remote and hybrid work.
For this group project, you are tasked with identifying management challenges, problems, or opportunities
(see Note) that must be addressed by business given the evolution of a workforce that will increasingly not
report to an office each day. Students should keep in mind that these challenges should be aligned with the
course material.
Note: The number of topics to be addressed is equal to the number of students in the
group (i.e. a group of 4 students will cover 4 topics).
Managing Virtual Teams and Remote Employees – Assignment Outline
I. Executive Summary: This section should be written last as it will provide a concise summary of the
topics covered in the document, including key findings and recommendations.
II. Distinct Sections for Each Topic (Titled by Topic) with two subsections each (Research and
Implications): These topical sections should be distinctly different yet logically linked to create a
meaningful whole. Students should seek to establish linkage, themes, or other ways of guiding the
reader through the sections such that they create a larger picture (a puzzle that comes together to
create a picture rather than random pieces).
Subsections:
a. Research – a clearly marked section titled “Research” should synthesize academic and
professional publications associated with each of the topics.
b. Implications – a clearly marked section titled “Implications” should express the managerial
implications (the “so what”) of your research related to each topic.
III. Conclusion: Summarize the key points and leave the reader with a clear view of the bigger picture
with respect to both the findings of the paper and the need for future research or development.
IV. References: It is expected that each section of the paper will require 3-5 references that may be
common across sections.
There is no recommended page count and students may follow a format that provides optimal impact for the
reader. APA citation for source materials is essential to delineate knowledge referenced from knowledge
creation by the team.
