Michigan History: Chapters 2 and 3
After Reading the Two Chapters, Create a Google Slide Presentation
Chapters will be attached in a PDF.
Being able to create slides that are accessible to students is an important teacher skill. If you do not know how to do this with Google Slide, see YouTube videos for help.
Overview: Google Slide Presentation
- create a new 8 slide presentation using Google Slides.
- your audience members are students in a 3rd grade classroom
- include at least one visual for each slide
- include no more than three concise bullet points for each slide (summarize the important points in a way that 3rd grade students would be able to read and understand)
- see list below for websites that could be used for visuals
- Your presentation should be free of spelling and grammatical errors. Remember to capitalize all proper nouns.

Instruction: What To Include on Each Slide
*consider how to title each slide to draw students attention it to what they will discover on the slide
- Slide 1: Title of the Google Slide Presentation (I WILL DO THIS ONE)
- Slides 2 and 3: Two to three bullet points that represent the role the French played in our history (the significant people, events, places, and/or motivation you think is crucial for students to know about Michigan history)
- Slides 4 and 5: Two to three bullet points that represent the role the British played in our history (the significant people, events, places, and/or motivation you think is crucial for students to know about Michigan history)
- Slides 6 and 7: Indigenous Peoples: their important role and influence in this history
- Slide 8: Why Learning about Michigan History Matters: Remember, in using the content standards, we want students to start thinking historically; how we tell the story matters!!
- Questions to consider as you create this slide:
- Why is it important that students understand this part of Michigan history?
- How does knowing about the past connect us to the present?
- What overarching theme or deeper meaning about life can be drawn from Michiganโs past?
- Review the historical thinking concepts..they should help you think about purposes too… (cause/effect, significant events, perspective, change and continuity…etc.) Websites for Visuals
