Topic:Critically examine the most important factors that shaped the development of a policy in Hong Kong and Singapore in public housing policy area of social policy. What could Hong Kong learn from Singapore to improve its own public housing policies?
Requirement: You are reminded that all projects should have a comparative element – i.e., achieve some kind of systematic comparison of policy areas within one society or compare one policy area across two or more societies. Single country-single policy area case studies – even historical – are normally not permitted. Word limits and grade weightings:
– mid-term progress report (3000-4000 words) – 15% of the total grade
Excellent research reports will have a great deal of thought put into them, demonstrate a clear understanding of the critical concepts of social policy, and be firmly based on the relevant literature on the research topic.
For the mid-term progress report, it should include the following elements:
a. a well-defined topic and sound research questions
b. the rationale for choosing the research questions and potential contribution of the project
c. a summary of the references and sources used in preparing the research question (approximately 20-30 references including the sources of policies discussed etc.) in APA format
– Just provide the list and write a paragraph summarising what they are (on what areas) and how they would help your research, you don’t need to read all of them for the mid-term progress report.
– The literature review section can be done afterwards (after finalizing the research framework and checking the suitability of the references)
