Midterm Self-Assessment and Think Again Part II: Interpersonal Rethinking– Opening Other People’s Minds

For the feedback: the feedback she had provided me was that I wasn’t being precise enough with the information I was providing and that the sources were not explored as much as she wanted them to be.

For the goals: say that they haven’t changed and that I am still looking to get an A

the rest you can make up.

Midterm Self-Assessment Memo

By this point in the semester, certain concepts or routines should be familiar to you. Yet, if you’ve missed something important, there’s still time to catch up, clarify, or ask for support.

Plan to take stock, then, of how you’re doing at midterm in your portfolio process. Examine what writing, research, or reading strategies are or aren’t working for you and what you need to concentrate on for the remainder of the course. You should review the assignments you have completed so far this semester and look both backward and forward at your progress in the course and write a reflective self-assessment.

In your self-assessment memo, discuss your writing and research process; the feedback you’ve received; your working habits, organizational skills, and communication habits; and the skills you’ve developed in the first eight weeks of the semester. It’s also important to refer back to the goal-setting memo you wrote at the beginning of the semester. What do you notice now that you are half-way through the semester? What progress have you made on your goals, and how have your goals changed? What are you hoping to learn and focus on during the second half of the semester? What questions do you have for your instructor or for other students? What else would you like to share?

Also (IMPORTANT), as part of your work on this Midterm Self-Assessment, read Think Again, Part II, “Interpersonal Rethinking,” Chapters 5, 6, and 7. To earn credit on this self-assessment, integrate at least three ideas (quotes or paraphrases) from these chapters and discuss how these ideas connect to your research, writing, and thinking in this class.

The format and exact content of your self-assessment memo is up to you, as long as you follow the general guidance provided here. Your memo should be at least three pages, double spaced, and include meaningful and thoughtful information.
