Modeling the Effects of Pressure Difference and Radius on Blood Flow Rate Using an Electrical Model

We predict that as blood flow rate increases pressure difference will increase as well indicating a directly
proportional relationship. We predict that there will be an exponential relationship between radius and
blood flow.

Experimental Controls:
We will use a negative control group that has a regular pressure difference and radius. This will be used
to compare our affected (treatment) results.

Materials
• Pressure difference will be represented using battery (power sources)
• Resistance in blood vessels will be represented using resistors/reservoir
• To mesure the blood flow, we will use ammeters
• Radius will be represented using pipes
1. Set up
2. Use the reservoir to create our control blood flow
3. Connect pipes with same control dimeter
4. Ajust the voltage of batteries to create control pressure
5. Check how blood flow is impacted using ammeters
6. Repeat steps 2-5 for both a higher and lower radius and voltage
