Discussion – Some Other Greats in the History of Psychology
You will be posting your presentation to the Discussion Board here. Each power point can be as simple as 3-6 slides. The first is your introduction slide – who are you and who are you presenting on. The second slide is basic autobiographical information, while the third or additional slides, are your basic content slides. What was the major contribution(s) of your assigned person? What was their impact on Psychology? What do you think about this person and their impact on the field? The final slide is your works cited slide. Please use APA format: https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines/references/examples.
Submission Instructions for Module 3:
Call your thread by the person who you are presenting followed by your name, for example: Wundt by Kate Makarec. Post your completed presentation to your thread.
All work must be submitted to the discussion board by Sunday midnight. This deadline is really important becasue next week, you will be reviewing each others’ work and so if someone fails to meet the deadline it will impact on those reviewing yoru work. So do not be late with this one! Late work will be penalized by one letter grade for each week it is late; the first day the full penalty kicks in is Monday.
Submission Instructions for Module 4:
Feedback is how we learn and grow. You need to review each other’s presentations and provide each other with feedback. You have been assigned 5 presentations to review. For each assigned presentation, what was good about it? What could be done better? What can be tried differently – it was not good or bad, but maybe another way to explain something or adding a different example could be helpful. Be thoughtful. The same three components I use to grade your presentations are what you should use when reviewing them. That is:
a. Visual effects: Is it simple, easy to see? Is it visually appealing? Does the motif fit the topic? (This last one is not always applicable – motifs do not need to be used, but if they are does it make sense? Does it add to the presentation?)
b. Presentation style: Basic delivery. Was it presented in a clear, organized manner? Did it have a little something extra that made it their own? Did the person put in the effort, practice it a bit so it came off smoothly?
c. Content: This is in the end, is the most important. Did they cover what was supposed to be covered in a clear manner. Did you understand what they were telling you? Did it make sense? Was it error free? They needed to introduce themselves and their topic. Next they needed to give you some autobiographical information about the person. They then needed to tell you about the contributions this person made to the development of Psychology. Finally, did they tell you what they thought about the person/ their contributions?
You have all week to complete the review assignment. Please have all reviews completed by Sunday midnight. Late work will be penalized a full letter grade for each week it is late. Your peers need you to complete your reviews as this will help them improve for their next presentation.
Submit your review of each presentation directly under that presentation. Next week you should review what others have written for you.
Instructions for Module 5:
Take the time to go over what was said about your presentation. Understand that not all feedback may be relevant. Take what you can and learn from it, help yourself to become a more effective presenter.
