INSTRUCTIONS
Portfolio Project: Part 4 pertains to the Sphere
Handbook section on Health. Your Portfolio
Project should meet the following requirements:
• Include: title and bibliography page
• Format of assignment: Turabian
• Number of words in each Chapter: 300-600 words
for each chapter
• Number of citations in each Chapter: at least one
Sphere and one citation from an external source.
• Your Portfolio Project will include proper
formatting, grammar, and spelling. Thoughts should be well-organized and
cohesive. Organization of Paper
This module’s Portfolio Project will have the
following four chapters:
• Chapter 13- Essential Concepts of Health.
300-600 words
o Overview – Discuss the importance of appropriate
healthcare and reducing excess morbidity and mortality.
o Community Participation – What are some ways to get
the community involved
and to affirm their dignity?
o Hygiene items – Based on the population, determine
the “essential items.” Also, develop a list of “nice to have
items.”
o Special Considerations – What are some special
considerations important to
protecting healthcare? Why is public health so
important in a camp setting?
• Chapter 14 – Health Systems. 300-600
words
o Overview – Discuss the importance of Health Systems
o Community Participation – what are some ways to get
the community involved and to affirm their dignity?
o Establishing a Clinic – Based on Sphere standards,
what would be the minimum
number of health workers and skilled birth attendants
required? What would be the minimum number of clinic beds required? If the camp
established a clinic to house the beds and a dispensary, what would be the
approximate size?
• Chapter 15 – Communicable Healthcare. 300-600
words
o Overview – Discuss the importance of managing
communicable diseases in a camp setting. What are ways to mitigate this?
o Community Participation – what are some ways to get
the community involved and to affirm their dignity?
• Chapter 16 – Women and Children
Healthcare. 300-600 words
o Overview – Discuss the importance of providing care
specific to women and
children in a camp setting. What are the essential
services that need to be provided?
o Community Participation – what are some ways to get
the community involved and to affirm their dignity?
