Guidelines and Rubric are included in the files- Please read carefully!!Please do not repeat the same idea or thought in different words within the essay please!!Here is my topic: exploring the non-death loss experienced by competitive athletes who suffer injuries that permanently alter—or even end—their ability to compete.
A strong thesis for your research paper should clearly state the specific focus of your argument and how it connects to the theoretical frameworks of non-death loss, grief, and identity. Here’s my refined thesis statement:may need to put in your own words:
Career-altering injuries among competitive athletes represent a significant form of non-death loss, leading to the erosion of athletic identity, disruptions in social relationships, and long-term psychological distress. These injuries often result in experiences of ambiguous loss, nonfinite grief, and disenfranchised grief, highlighting the need for greater recognition and support in athletic communities.
– This paper should explore, in more depth, one type of non-death loss of your choosing. Topics that may be interesting could include many different areas; students often find that using one of their own experiences is helpful, although you need to keep in mind that this is not a reflection paper and should not include personal content or disclosure. – Try to be creative in your thinking and push the envelope a bit in choosing a topic.–Remember: a research paper reports the current research and literature on a particular topic. – The content of the paper must come from the literature that you reviewed and must be cited appropriately. Any statements of fact that you make in your paper must be referenced to the source where the statement originated. In a research paper, you do not provide your opinion or use the first-person narrative account. A research paper is also not meant for the purpose of persuasion or proving a point. You are simply reporting what you have found in your literature search.- Must- Cite all the reference materials that you have used in the body of the paper, e.g., quotes, ideas, concepts, statistics, suggestions for interventions. You will need at use at least 8 scholarly articles that have been published within the past 6 years (from 2018 onward). DO NOT use generic, non-governmental, or personal websites/blogs, Wikipedia, or non-academic references for your work. You may cite older materials, your text, course readings, or lecture notes as additional references to those required above. Proper APA format is required, based upon the 7th Edition of the APA Publication Guide. Spelling and grammar will be stringently marked, so please ensure that you have double-checked your written material for accuracy, grammatical flow, and appropriate referencing.–Students must write their essays and assignments in their own words. In addition, limit the number of direct quotes that you use, and paraphrase whenever possible. Whenever students take an idea or a passage from another author, theymust acknowledge their debt by using proper referencing such as footnotes or citations. Do not copy and paste from an electronic source! Every idea or statement you make in a research paper must be supported by the literature that you have read—and that literature should be cited.
