(4) Critical review of the article which include the following:
1. Rationale of the work (Describe the authors’ rationale or reasons for doing the research? (Is there a clear problem, statement or hypothesis?)
2. Importance to the field of microbial physiology or microbiology. (Why is the research important and of interest in the field of microbiology? What does the research contributed to field)
3. Strenghts of the article. (Describe are the major strenghts of the article)
4. Weaknesses of the article. (Describe the weaknesses of the article).
5. Methods. (Describe briefly the methods used. What techniques were used and how was each technique performed? What kind of data can be obtained using each technique? How are such data interpreted? What kind of information is produced by using the technique? What approach was used for the research? How do these methods support the research objectives?)
6. Results. (What were the results of the study? How was each technique used to obtain each result? How did each result contribute to answering the question or testing the hypothesis raised in the introduction? Describe the statistical and data analysis used. How are they reflected in the data presented in the results?)
7. Discussion. (How were the results interpreted? How were they related to the original problem
Were the authors able to answer the question (test the hypothesis) raised? Did the research provide new factual information, a new understanding of a phenomenon in the field, or a new research technique? How was the significance of the work described? Do the authors relate the findings of the study to literature in the field? Did the reported observations or interpretations support or refute observations or interpretations made by other researchers?)
8. Originality. (Describe the originality of the paper. Examine the introduction section to identify whether the study builds upon existing knowledge or introduces a novel approach to the research question. Check if the authors provide a comprehensive review of relevant literature and clearly position their work in the context of existing research.)
9. Conclusions. (Describe the conclusions. Are the conclusions justified? Are the conclusions supported by the data presented? What claims are made? Is the argument consistent? What kinds of evidence does the text rely on? How valid and reliable is the evidence?)
10. Recommendations. (Provide recommendations for how the paper can be improved in terms of ideas, research approach, theory or framework)
