PRELIMINARY STEPS
First, review the assignment sheet for Assignment #2: OBJECT here.
You should have already chosen your object of study, created an outline, and written a rough draft. Now your job is to fill in the missing details and move from the rough draft to the final submission.
REQUIREMENTS
Review the overall requirements for the assignment using the link above. Some additional things to keep in mind when moving from rough draft to final:
- Your final submission should be a seamless and fluid piece of writing – no notes, gaps, or missing information. Make that final push to fill in any missing details.
- Include citations in Chicago style and a bibliography at the end of the paper listing all the works you cited. Some people save this step for last, but we recommend giving yourself enough time to accurately and properly cite all outside information.
- It’s helpful to keep good notes of where you found your materials as you gather them – it’s not fun crawling through databases just before the deadline trying to track down the source of a quote!
- Every source you reference in the body of your paper should appear in your bibliography. Every source in your bibliography should be referenced somewhere in your paper.
- If you’re not in the headspace to write, spend some time formatting the sources in your bibliography – your future self will thank you.
- Visit the Purdue Online Writing Lab’s page for Chicago styleLinks to an external site. – a one-stop shop for all the information you need to cite.
- Check your final paper against the assignment grading rubric. Use it as a checklist to see what you’ve accomplished and what still needs development.
- Incorporate any feedback you receive, from peers or your instructor, in your final essay. You might also show it to a friend or classmate and ask for their suggestions.
