Here’s a comprehensive checklist based on the university’s guidelines for the graduation process in the Faculty of Business at AEH:
General Principles
- Confirm that your thesis meets the purpose: realization of learning outcomes.
- Ensure your thesis is socially and/or scientifically useful.
- Work under the guidance of a thesis supervisor in a diploma seminar.
Diploma Seminar Selection
- Choose a seminar from the list published by the dean.
- Ensure your seminar meets the minimum size of 10 students (maximum of 25 unless dean-approved).
- Changes in the seminar are allowed only during the first semester, with consent from both supervisors.
Thesis Preparation
- Format Requirements:
- Chapters: 4 (theoretical, methodological, analytical/research, and conclusion).
- Length: Minimum of 60 pages (excluding appendices).
- Font: Times New Roman 12 pt; Titles: 14 pt bold for chapters.
- Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.
- Line spacing: 1.5 lines.
- Paragraphs: 1.25 cm indent.
- Include numbered and titled figures, tables, and appendices.
- Structure:
- Title page (follow the university’s template).
- Table of contents with page numbers.
- Introduction: justification, objectives, hypothesis/thesis, chapter outline.
- Substantive chapters: theoretical (literature review), methodological, and research.
- Conclusion: key findings, hypothesis verification, practical relevance.
- Bibliography: At least 25 sources (minimum 2 foreign), divided into books, articles, legal acts, internet sources, etc.
- Content Requirements:
- Adhere to scientific methods presented during studies.
- Cite 2–3 footnotes per page on average in theoretical chapters.
- Ensure a balance between chapters with a deviation of 15–20% in length.
Submission
- Upload your thesis to the university system 7 days before the defense date, along with required documents/statements.
- Pass the anti-plagiarism check:
- 30% similarity or less: Approved without further review.
- 31–40% similarity: Subject to detailed review and justification.
- Above 40% similarity: Revise and recheck.
- Include a signed declaration of authorship and originality.
Evaluation
- Obtain a review from both your supervisor and a reviewer.
- Reviewer must be appointed 7 days before the defense.
- If initial grades differ by more than 1.5 marks, a second reviewer is appointed.
- Final thesis grade: Average of all marks (rounded).
Thesis Defense
- Answer three questions:
- One from general field knowledge.
- One from your thesis specialty.
- One directly related to your thesis.
- Format: Oral, conducted in Polish or English, depending on your study language.
- Final exam grade: Combination of thesis evaluation and defense performance.
Deadlines
- Seminar selection: Follow the dean’s published dates.
- Thesis defense dates are outlined in the Rector’s Order for the academic year.
- Submit requests for changes, reviews, or individual schedules to the dean in advance.
