Part 2: Appraisal and Critique (15%)
The purpose of this exercise is to solidify and enhance your learning, so you can apply the skills developed during the debate in future situations. One week following your debate, submit this scholarly paper to the Assignment 2 Dropbox.
Instructions
Follow a what, so what, now what format in your paper.
- What: Describe what happened during the debate. Appraise the evidence and arguments put forward. What did you notice about the quality of the arguments? The availability and the quality of the evidence? Be objective and brief.
- So what: What did you learn, what surprised you, what did you like/dislike, what was your most significant learning? Critique your approach to the debate.
- Now what: How will this experience influence you in future work? What will you take away from this experience about developing arguments and defending your position on an issue? What would you do differently next time? How might you use this learning in different settings?
Format
This is a scholarly paper with a maximum of 1000 words, excluding title page and references, in APA format. An abstract is not required. This assignment will be evaluated using the marking criteria for written assignments and the graduate student grading scale described under marking criteria.
