Parkinson’s Disease: Literary review of Assessment, Diagnostic Criteria and Treatment Strategies

CLINICAL
NEUROSCIENCE ASSESSMENT #2

  1. Use the DSM-5 to list the primary
diagnostic criteria and associated features relevant to the Parkinson’s
Disease in tabulated form. Please make two columns “Diagnostic Criteria” and “Associated
Feature”. Use both DSM-5- TR and other peer-reviewed research articles for
this section. The words used in the table will not count
    towards the word limit.

  2. CASE STUDY: Write a factual
500-word outline of how a person (with the disorder/disability) would
present (e.g., communicate, behave, move, engage) in the clinical setting.
    In specific terms, you are
interested in describing what you ‘would see’ that would raise your
suspicions that the disorder/disability could be evident. The 500-word
description is the hypothetical case you will analyse using steps 3 to 5
below. Example: the 52 year old male patient, presented with  XXXX
    etc?
  3. Describe the most appropriate
assessment techniques/processes to investigate the Parkinson’s Disease
with an explanation for your suggestions.
    The research will most likely
point to a number of assessments that are necessary and it would be useful
for you to place those in a hierarchy of importance that shows which
    assessments should take priority.
  4. Develop a plan that shows
the particular treatments/therapies you would recommend to assist the
person and your reasons why. For this aspect, you could cluster your
    recommendations in relation to essential
     (i.e., must
occur first and cannot be omitted) and
    facilitative (i.e.,
are likely to enhance effectiveness) treatments.
  5. Describe the strategies you
would put in place to monitor treatment progress and the functional
improvements you would target to decide on treatment success.
  6. You need an introduction and
    conclusion

You will
be required to submit one case report of 3,000 words
and need 30 references at the minimum
 which contains your analysis of
the case and the evidence you have used to substantiate your responses. We
are strict on the word count (+/- 10% of the stated word
limit), and will not consider work that goes beyond this
limit.  Grammar, expression and spelling will impact on the standard
of your report and you should ensure correct usage on all levels – please
do not write in first person
. The report should adhere to APA 7 Format
requirements including layout, formatting, headings, and in-text
referencing.  A separate abstract is not required for this report.
The report should end with a separate Reference List containing the
details of all journal articles, documents, and sources used to complete the
assessment.
