Right now, the only thing I want you to focus on is the discussion. Due to the more historical nature of the results, I divided your results and discussion up into two sections so that the discussion can focus mostly on the science behind our findings. Of course, in dividing it up, I now need you to fill in the discussion section. Thus, see what I wrote in the highlighted second paragraph of the discussion as I give you directions for how to develop this section. Keep the first paragraph I wrote for the discussion, but obviously, delete the second paragraph after you read my suggestions. The focus of the discussion needs to be more on comparing previous research studies to ours and the relevance of our study as it relates to the science of color genetics and breeding. Try to find more current research, preferably 2020-2023, but at least within the last decade if possible.
Along with your revised paper, I have also included another paper I just reviewed that should be good for using in your discussion. Along with this one, try to find some additional papers on pedigree tracing and color genetics to use in your discussion. Also, note that I want you to add a paragraph at the end of your discussion on limitations of our study. I give you suggestions, but also refer to other scientific papers that discusses limitations that are similar to yours. In the end, you’re looking at around 4 paragraphs to add to the first paragraph I’ve included for your discussion.
The discussion section is the only area I need you to fix at this time. Then, after doing that, I’ll then need you to fix the references so that they are numbered within the text and listed in the reference list in the order they are presented in the paper. Add in the corresponding number for each reference within the reference list. I’ve included a paper from JEVS so you can see an example and you are welcome to use this as another citation as it is relevant to your study. Along with the numbering, thoroughly go through how you formatted each reference within the reference list making sure it matches exactly how the directions outline.
