Goals and Objectives
The primary expected outcomes of this project is to develop a new program within The Wounded Warrior Project, that is Evidenced Based, and with the intentions of preventing secondary issues to war related mental health trauma.
The long-term goal is to increase Veteran mental health well-being, reduce Veteran suicide rates, and reduce Veteran substance dependency.
Goal One: By December 31, 2025, 85% of Veteran Clients will self-report an increase in mood and stability that will be verified by quantitive electroencephalography (QEEG) reports. QEEG will be administered by Certified Neurofeedback Technicians every 6-weeks.
- Objective One: At the end of each 6-weeks, 85% of Veteran Clients will reflect an increase in mood and stability as measured by the QEEG and self-reporting.
- Objective Two: At the end of each 6-weeks, 85% of Veteran Clients will have a reduction in self-harm, suicide ideation, addictive behaviors and other trauma related secondary symptoms as measured by the QEEG and self-reporting.
Goal Two: By December 31, 2026, 95% of Veteran Clients will demonstrate competence in self-regulating techniques that are specific to the nervous system and body. Competency will be measured by success that is verified by quantitive electroencephalography (QEEG) reports. QEEG will be administered by Certified Neurofeedback Technicians every 6-weeks.
- Objective One: At the end of each 6-weeks, 95% of Veteran Clients will increase awareness of neurological stressors specific to their trauma and will utilize somatic tools that will reduce trauma stored within their body. Reduction will be measured and assessed using QEEG and self-reporting.
- Objective Two: At the end of each 6-weeks, 95% of Veteran Clients will demonstrate self-regulation as it pertains to the nervous system and body. Success will be measured by QEEG and self-reporting.
Director of this newly developed program will assess the data for the 2025 and 2026 years which will be included in the final annual reports.
- QEEG baseline scores will be taken of each Veteran client at intake and used as a baseline for assessing their z-scores.
- Veteran Clients QEEG scores will be recorded weekly and adjustments to treatment will be made at each visit if progress is not being made at the appointment.
- Veteran Clients will be reevaluated quarterly and at the end of the project and reports will be submitted to Making a Difference.

Key Personnel/Staffing for Project
The Making a Difference grant will be used to provide wages for five (40 hours a week) Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) with experience specifically with Veterans of war and PTSD. Each LCSW will supervise a UNR intern each term; providing five interns to the program. Due to the diversity of Southern Nevada, at least one staff member will be bilingual in English and Spanish.
The LCSW Practitioner of Neurofeedback and biofeedback will be responsible for the QEEG data collecting, provide cognitive and physical regulation through the QEEG and advise staff meetings of changes. The two LCSW Somatic Practitioners will help clients incorporate their bodies in the process of releasing trauma that is trapped or miscommunication between body and brain. The two LCSW therapist certified in EMDR and CBT will help clients to reprocess trauma and repair their responses to their past. All staff will be present and partake in the Case management and team meetings.
Evaluation Plan/Sustainability
Wounded Warriors will submit a quarterly update and report January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, and October 1st in 2025 and 2026. Reports will protect the HIPPA privacy of clients will reporting the overall data of the program and agency. These updates and reports will include:
- The client’s history,
- Technical descriptions,
- EEG descriptions,
- Impressions
- Clinical correlations
LCSW Practitioner of Neuro/Biofeedback will be evaluating baselines, regulation and clinical changes of the client in these reports. All evaluations and data will be collected through QEEG and it will be summarized and analyzed through QEEG-Pro Software. This data will be used to continue moving forward at times it is working with an individual and as a measurement when a pivot is needed in a particular client.
Wounded Warrior project is committed to continuing and expanding it program once the grant funding ends. The Wounded Warrior project intends to lobby its findings to the White House and Veteran Affairs with goals to receive government funding to expand the program.
