You should submit your assessment …….

 

You should submit a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation in the Blackboard submission area. When you submit your presentation, please enter your student roll number as the title of the submitted file. You will access the Blackboard submission area from the Field Specific Care Need Blackboard site, in the Assessment area.  

 

As the University will mark assessments anonymously where this is possible, please use your student roll number and not your name on your submission. 

 

Assessment task details and instructions

 

 

You should design and undertake a 15minute (plus 5 minutes for questions) presentation, critically exploring an episode of care (EoC) related to your specific field of practice, confidentiality must be maintained around your chosen EoC. The presentation will demonstrate how you have addressed the module identified learning outcomes and assessment guidelines supported with range of relevant supportive evidence and academic literature. The presentation will employ the PowerPoint presentation to be performed in front of an assessor on a specified date and time and marked against the level 5 academic grade descriptors and using the APA 7th Harvard edition style of referencing.     

 

Presentation/Formatting Guidelines  

Your student roll number should be the title of the PowerPoint file but please ensure that the .ppt or .pptx suffix is also left on as you save.   

·       Microsoft PowerPoint presentation with no more than 8 slides 

·       Type your presentation in a clear, readable font Arial, size 24, with slide numbers throughout 

·       Reference list font size 12 

·       File size no larger than 500MB in size 

·       In the main slides’ pictures may be used but NO animation or sounds. 

·       An electronic copy of the PowerPoint presentation 

·       You are permitted a maximum time of 15 minutes to present and a maximum time of 5 minutes to answer any questions. Your assessor will stop if you exceed the permitted time allowances. 

·       Throughout this presentation confidentiality must be maintained to ensure places, people and specific events are not identifiable, therefore any names and identifiable information must be anonymised. 

·       Your ‘in-text’ citations and final reference list should be written in APA 7th (Harvard) style.

·       Slide 1 – Title slide name student roll number 

·       Slide 2 – Aims and Objectives of the presentation 

·       Slide 3 – An outline of the episode of care   

·       Slides 4 – 8 Critically discuss aspects of this episode of care related to the module learning outcomes supported with range of relevant supportive evidence and academic literature.  

·       Reference list (In addition to the 8 slides)

Your assessment should be 20 minutes long (15 minutes for the presentation followed by 5 minutes for questioning by the assessor).     

You will be expected to adhere to the 15-minute duration to present. Your assessor will indicate to you when the 15 minutes are up. There will then be 5 mins for questions related to the presentation. 

 

Feedback arrangements

 

 

You will undertake your practice for success presentation in your supervision bubble where you can submit up to a maximum of 4 PowerPoint slides to present to your supervisor and supervision bubble for practice for success feedback.  Verbal feedback will be provided – by your supervisor on the day.  All practice for success drafts must be submitted by 4pm on Thursday 11th April 2024.

You can obtain support for this assessment by:

 

·       Utilising the resources on Blackboard.  

·       You will attend a series of lectures and seminars designed to ensure you have the knowledge and skills to complete this presentation.    

 

You will be allocated a supervisor who you can direct specific queries to and who will provide group supervision sessions as timetabled. Please ensure you make supervision arrangements with your supervisor in plenty of time.

Your assessment is not eligible for in year retrieval. If you are eligible for this scheme, you will be contacted shortly after the feedback deadline.

Reassessment

 

If you fail your assessment, and are eligible for reassessment, you will need to resubmit on or before 4pm on TBC 2024. For students with accepted personal mitigating circumstances for absence/non submission, this will be your replacement assessment attempt.  

 

We know that having to undergo a reassessment can be challenging however support is available.  


The presentation is your opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and values that you have acquired during the module. It will be conducted online using Microsoft Teams and this will be recorded for moderation purposes. You will be allocated a date and time following the assessment submission date, by your academic supervisor/assessor. You will usually be assessed by one person.

 

Submission of PowerPoint Presentation 

When submitting use, the ‘Assessment (numbered)’ submission area located within the Assessment folder on the FSCN Bb site. Please ensure that you use Google chrome to upload your submissions as sometimes other browsers do not work as well with Blackboard. 

 

You are required to submit a Microsoft PowerPoint (PP) presentation, as a student you have access to Microsoft Office 365, please ensure you have downloaded the full PP application and submit using this, DO NOT try and submit any of the following:

1.        Web-based PowerPoint

2.        Open office

3.        Apple’s Keynote 

4.        A link to your PowerPoint file within your ‘One Drive’

If any of the above are submitted, you will NOT be permitted to present. 

 

You must upload your Microsoft PowerPoint file and give yourself plenty of time in case there are any issues which may require support from IT. Ensure you are patient when you upload your presentation and obtain/request a receipt.

 

You will receive an individual Microsoft Teams invitation from your academic supervisor before the individual presentations are due to be undertaken, which will be online. Please accept the invitation once you receive it if you intend to submit and present and be aware that the presentations will be recorded for moderation purposes. If you are aware of any ongoing internet issues at home, then please book a room at the university library to undertake your assessment.

 

Remember NO late submissions are permitted for a presentation, since it is classified as an exam. Therefore, you cannot submit a PMC for late submission only for non-submission or non-attendance. If you attempt to submit late you will NOT be permitted to present.
