Launch Business Concept Proposal: Design a vertical launch and landing spaceplane for suborbital tourism.
In this activity, you prepare a short presentation with audio discussing your selection of a launch vehicle configuration you are using in your LBCP. This will include several requirements and your rationale for them.
In your presentation, you must include the following information, including rationales based on customer requirements (e.g., mission suitability, price, mission reliability, schedule reliability, and level of service):
- Price point: What is the price point for your launch configuration? You do not need a detailed cost analysis; just discuss your price target and why.
- Performance: What is the payload lift to your target market: SSO, LEO, GTO, TLI?
- Flight rate What is the flight rate for your configuration?
- Staging: How many stages are in your configuration? What is the propellant mass fraction for each stage?
- Reusability: Is your launch configuration completely reusable? Partially? Expendable?
- Engines: What are the specifications for your engines? Include a discussion of fuel, cycle, thrust, and ISP. Will you develop your engines or use engines already in existence? Is there a similar engine being used?
- Faring: What are the dimensions of the fairing?
- Other innovations in design or manufacturing: What other innovations would you include in your design or manufacturing?
- Key tradeoffs and decisions: What are key tradeoffs and decisions you would need to consider for your configuration?
