In this activity, you prepare a short presentation with audio discussing the market attractiveness of the launch business you are using in your LBCP. This will include the total addressable market and the available market for your proposed launch services.
Launch Business Concept Propsal: Design a vertical launch and landing spaceplane for suborbital tourism.
In your presentation, you will analyze the market for the launch service of your LBCP by following these steps:
- Begin your analysis with an assessment of the total addressable market (TAM). What is the TAM for the launch services you will develop? This will provide a good look at everything that you and your competitors will be attempting to capture.
- Next, you need to address your potential current customers and future customers. Who are they? What are their preferences? What are their current and projected needs for launch services?
- Then, you will derive the serviceable available market (SAM) and quantify this over at least the next 10 years. You will need to articulate the rationale for your market capture assumptions based on your analysis of customers from the previous step.
- Finally, you will need to evaluate the attractiveness of this market in terms of size, growth, and degree of rivalry, using Porter’s Five Forces analysis.
