Reiss, Benjamin. The Showman and the Slave:
Race, Death, and Memory in Barnum’s America.

Book Review Presentation: Record a brief 4-6 minute presentation covering your evaluation of the book. You may use the form of technological recording you are most comfortable with (YouTube, Zoom, PPT, ScreenPal, etc). This presentation will be posted in the DB for review and feedback from your classmates.

The presentation will-

identify the author’s thesis and whether you believe the author achieved their goal in writing the book.
be well organized (create a script beforehand so you have a direction planned out for your presentation.)
examine one event, person, idea, or concept covered in the book in depth. (Give a brief summary of your chosen topic and explain the significance of this topic to an overall understanding of the thesis.)
include your personal evaluation of the book. (Did you like the book? Why or why not? Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not? [My feelings will not be hurt if you do not like the book] How did this book make you feel? What have you learned from it? How does the book’s information impact you personally? This is not information that is part of your paper but a new and separate evaluation offering synthesis.)
