Develop a prevention or treatment intervention that could be implemented at your preferred agency/institution. Once you have selected the particular population and presenting issue, you will need to conduct a literature review on the nature and scope of the problem and existing prevention or intervention approaches. You will develop your program based on what the literature cites as needed, but your program must be an original contribution. Select a specific program and population for this assignment, so you can outline the particulars. Your score will be lowered if you apply a broad therapy to a broad population (i.e., CBT for phobia).
Included in your paper will be twenty (20) references from refereed journals, texts and/or a combination of the two. Your references should not be older than 15 years unless you are citing either a “landmark” article or book. The required paper must be a minimum of twenty (20) pages in length (to include a title page and abstract on a separate page) and IS NOT to exceed twenty-five (25) pages. This paper must be written in accordance with the APA Style Manual (7th ed.; see manual for formatting of page headers, running head, pagination, and reference lists). Also, consult the APA-style website for quick tips: http://www.apastyle.org/. Your paper must include the following major sections:
• Description of the problem nationally AND in the local area in which you reside
• Current effective prevention/treatment interventions for working with the selected population
• Description of your proposed intervention procedures and population being served
• Therapist role and function in the intervention
• Procedures used to gauge success of the program (outcomes; plan for evaluation of outcomes)
• Discussion of special issues (e.g., ethical, contextual) that could or will impact the program; obstacles likely to be encountered, and
• Implications for therapists given the success or failure of the program.
Your paper will be evaluated based on: a) the accuracy of the information presented; b) the clarity of the paper; c) the thoughtfulness in which the topic(s) is/are discussed, and d) your adherence to APA form
