The project is the central task of the semester. Defining your project will be done in
conjunction with your colleagues and with the instructor. You will provide a written project
proposal that must approve by the instructor before proceeding. Toward the end of the
semester there will be a public session on campus so that projects can be engaged by the
school. There will also be an online presence of your project. The project proposal will set
the course of the project. As the project unfolds, it will undoubtedly vary from the original
proposal but should hold true to intent and spirit of the proposal. Major changes need to be
reviewed with the instructor. The proposal should address:
Context
Brief description of concept
Purpose and Outcomes
Theological groundings
Public contributions
Approach and Format
The project can take on any number of forms and content. Regardless of form and content, the
project should have these characteristics:
Reflect the best work of a student at the conclusion of a Master level program
Articulate a clear sense of the student’s understanding of the nature, purposes, and
theology of their area of ministry.
Integrate the major components of the MAPT program
Provide a resource of sufficient substance and quality to equip the vocation, discipleship,
or ministry of others and/or faith communities…that is, the resource makes a public
contribution to ministry.
Regardless of form, the resource produced through the project must be preceded by:
Description of the intended context
General description of the resource and its purposes
How it reflects the theology of ministry of the student
