For example, someone who may be Indian can share new ideas
and or awareness to a
company about a particular way or process of doing
something within the company that
they didn’t know while being in India for a
previous company and that will help the current company excel in this area. The
company may have had a hard time trying to implement a policy or structure and
streamline something. This individual can bring this to the
workplace and make
the strategy easier. Race/color also shines a light on equality among everyone
giving a fair chance no matter where you come from, how you appear, who you are
married to, the texture of your hair and or who you may be associated with.
When
discrimination is based on race/color we are not giving that person a
chance to showcase skills, talents, abilities and market themselves properly
instead of immediately
discriminating against them. This can put limits and
tight barriers on their personal,
current or even future goals and long term
achievements that they may have set for
themselves. Studies have also shown
through resume screening of candidates with
certain names are discriminated on
using this as a base of color discrimination.
Race/color discrimination can be
stereotype driven or viewed as knowing more or less
about an industry because
of racial or ethnicity class. (Quillian, 2021).
In addition, I believe different races/cultures may handles
things differently within the
scope of employment versus another and that can
lead to discrimination. For instance, a
company may choose a particular race
for a position on how they would deal with a
situation over another. With that
being said, culture plays a big part in the way we do things within a certain
race, country or even organization. Some employers or businesses are
more
favorable against one more than the other contingent on that race or protected
class of people. This is so important because when we use discrimination on the
basis of
color we are decapitating all human rights and humanity for all.
Race/color discrimination does not allow for an individual to live out their
true potential in the workforce. When race/color is not impacted we broaden all
ranges and scope of workplace potential and give
that candidate or person an
opportunity to advance.
