This assignment is designed to help you apply various psychological theories to practical life situations (course learning objective #1).  It will also help you learn the practice of critiquing the literature (course learning objective #2) and synthesize what you’ve already learned in your psychology studies with your upcoming career ambitions (course learning objective #3). For success with this assignment, you should include what you have learned from assigned readings in this course, video lectures in this course, and psychological ideas and concepts learned in previous courses.

Please write a 3-page essay discussing a psychological topic of your choosing.  

 You are welcome to include more than the following questions, but be sure to at least address these questions in your essay:  

  • What is the topic you have chosen to research and turn into a practical presentation (later in the course)?

  • What are some of the factors that contribute to your interest in this topic?  

    Schizophrenia get lost in the system.  They lack family support and they end up to be institutionalized or homeless self medicating with street drugs. 

  • What realm of psychology does your topic fall under (developmental, abnormal, psychophysiological, clinical, etc)? Abnormal Psychology  
  • Does this topic connect with your future career ambitions or hopes?  My overall passion is to help support those areas of psychology that have the greatest need.  
  • How can your research and presentation (in week 8) contribute to society?  provide data and education opportunites that supports the importance of social support to help increase of self-esteem to those who suffer with 

    Schizophrenia.

  • Which particular groups of people, culture, or particular groups can your research and presentation help?  Those in a lower SES.
