Overview
Both acute care and long-term care centers in communities around Sentinel City® strive to prevent Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI). Over half of the states in the United States are required by law to report HAI trends and action plans. This assignment will explore HAIs in acute and long-term care settings and challenge learners to create a plan for Lake View Progressive Care Center®.

Assignment Instructions
1. Enter Sentinel City® and enter and explore the Public Health Department in Industrial Heights. Analyze data to determine healthcare-acquired infection trends.
2. Enter Sentinel City® and enter and explore the Lake View Progressive Care Center in Lake View Suburb to view the data.
3. Enter Sentinel City® and enter and explore the data for the Healthcare System (in Acer Care Center).
1. What are the potential impacts of HAI on patients, families, and organizations?
2. What are the most effective interventions to achieve HAI goals
3. Describe three priority elements to include in an HAI plan for acute care and long-term care settings.
4. Present two examples of resource gaps identified in both Sentinel Hospital and Lake View Progressive Care Center related to HAIs and list potential solutions for each.
5. Based on the examples of HAI State Plans (refer to the link in the pre-brief), develop an HAI plan for Lake View Progressive Care Center and/or the Healthcare System. Include six element statements and two implementation activities for each element statement. Denote the HAI standard or target to achieve each plan element. Consider the following:
* Credible federal, state, local, or private organizations
* Community-based needs discovered in the data
* Six general categories in the chart below may be modified as desired.
* Element statements should be written goal statements.
