- Review the types of graphical displays we can create for quantitative data sets in Chapter 3: Displaying and Summarizing Quantitative Data. Now create an appropriate graphical display where you’ll be able to see the shape of the distribution. Label the axes and include a title.
- Identify the appropriate distribution shape for the above data (select one from the three choices below). Explain how you determined it.
UNIFORM BELL-SHAPED SKEWED ( mention Left or Right)
- Based on the distribution shape, which of the following would be the appropriate measure of center to use to represent the average weight gained ? Explain why.
MEAN MEDIAN MODE
- Calculate the average weight gained during the 16-month period. You must calculate the measure you selected in #3.
- From the display you have created, does the data contain a possible outlier? If yes, what is the value that appears to be an outlier and how can you tell? If no, explain how you can tell.
- Calculate the following and show your calculations.
- IQR:
- Lower Fence:
- Upper Fence:
- Is the value noted in #5 above an outlier? Explain.
- Are there any other outliers? Explain.
- Draw a box plot. Label the axes and include a title.
