Research question:
What sexual education is available in predominately Republican, or “red” states that
currently have an abortion ban, and what is the rate of teenage pregnancy in these
states?
This assignment requires that you construct a quantitative survey about your research question. You will be posting this for your classmates’ review. Since you do not have IRB approval, do not distribute this survey outside of the workshop.
The survey should include 20 questions. Make sure that your survey includes at least one question for each level of measurement (nominal, ordinal, and continuous). Submit your survey instrument here for instructor and peer review. It must be conveniently formatted. You can upload it as a Word or rtf document, or you can design it in the response space using the HTML editor.
Format of the assignment:
- Title of your study
- Name of researcher
- Identification of the audience (one or two sentences)
- Purpose of the study (two to three sentences)
- Questionnaire (20 questions) appropriately designed for a quantitative study.
Questions
- Using the survey questions that you constructed in the Module 3 Workshop, choose one nominal, ordinal, and continuous variable and identify the appropriate statistic to summarize your data for each. (Hint: Review Content Guide on Univariate Analysis: Descriptive Statistics)
- Identify 2 variables in your Module 3 Workshop survey that you would like to check for a correlation. Why?
- Define validity and reliability and explain why they are important in the research process.
- Differentiate between causation and correlation.
- What is a spurious correlation? Give an example and explain why it is a spurious correlation.
Do not forget about spelling, grammar, and the presentation format of your survey. Assume that you are doing a professional job.
