For this project, you will need to select a topic related to one of the readings from the text or another topic related to race or gender within media (with instructor approval).
I encourage you to select a topic you have a real interest in, as it will make the process more worthwhile and engaging for you.
You are not bound by the table of contents of the textbook. If there is another topic centered on race or gender and the media that you are interested in, pursue that. If you need assistance honing your topic, let me know and I will provide what assistance I can.
I am doing the story about John Lennon’s quote “we’re more popular than Jesus” statement during the time of the Beatles’ 1966 tour. And how it relates to race, gender and the media.
Format: You may choose to present your project in one of a variety of formats: traditional paper, research poster, audio, video, graphic or interactive materials. Each format has its own strengths and weaknesses, so choose the one that best expresses your own thought and creativity. The length is minimum 7 pages, double spaced, for a written paper or 7 minutes for an audio/visual project.
Citations: Regardless of format, you will need to provide a citation list (works cited) of at least 10 quality sources (peer-reviewed publications, primary source materials, related media) which will help inform your project. Use APA format for all citations.
Within your project, you should address the following items:
- An overview of the topic – what have others written about the topic, why it is an important topic.
- What motivates you to choose this topic?
- What are the issues related to the topic – what challenges are present related to the topic?
- How would you address these challenges related to your topic?
