Racial Narratives Across Borders: Afro-Cuban Representation and Resistance in Contemporary Cuba and the Influence of the U.S. Diaspora

This assignment is a Master’s level dissertation regarding the racialization processes that affect Afro-Cuban representation today in contemporary Cuba, and specifically how the tourism industry in Cuba reflects the racialization processes that have occurred on the island. I am specifically studying the newly-launched Cuba Unica tourism campaign, which was launched in 2022 primarily on social media networks such as Instagram, Twitter, and Tiktok. I am looking at specifically the Instagram page of the campaign, and analyzing the racial dimensions of the images. I wrote out a short draft of about 5,000 words and sent it to my supervisor. However, there is MUCH editing, rewriting, and writing that needs to be done to get this paper to the 13,000 word count. I need to include much much more theory into my writing and have the theoretical framework really guide my writing, rather than have my writing read so descriptive. I have attached the draft with my supervisor revision comments. Please let me know if you need more information/data from me.
