Reaction Paper about stress management’s role in health and wellness and how excessive distress can undermine the indivual’s physical and mental health.

You will write one reaction paper, no less than five full pages each. Papers turned in that are less than
five full pages will automatically be deducted 10 points. This paper is worth 25% of your final grade,
for 25% total. When you cite specific information or statistics, you must provide a source, even if you
are just using an idea or a general fact, rather than a direct quote. Cite your sources parenthetically in
the body of the paper AND in a complete References page at the end of the paper. If you fail to cite
your sources in the body of the paper, your paper will lose 10 points. If you fail to provide a works
cited page, your paper will lose 10 points. Publication Manual of the American Psychological
Association Seventh Edition is the required style. Failure to use the requirements of this style will
cause your paper to lose 10 points. The library has a copy of the APA Publication Manual Seventh
Edition in the reference section (this book cannot be checked out, so it WILL be there).
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask me before the reaction paper is due. BE SURE TO
SAVE YOUR WORK REGULARLY! Print out a hard copy periodically so you have your work in
hand should there be a computer or disk error.
General Requirements: 5 complete pages minimum, exclusive of References and Title pages, double-
spaced, in an easy-to-read 12-point font Times New Roman. You should not write more than 5
textual pages. Name on the front page of the paper, in the header (if using MS Word, click on View,
Header, and then type your name in the header). Each page should be numbered (in MS Word, use
Insert, Page Numbers, and select a spot). Please remember to SPELL CHECK and PROOFREAD
your paper before preparing your final copy for submission. Use 1″ margins on all sides. Papers
should be in Microsoft Word ONLY. Papers in Microsoft WORKS (Word Perfect) cannot be
accepted.
Specific Requirements: Reaction paper will require some research. You should use a minimum of
five sources, one of which can be your textbook. The other sources should be books, or journal
articles researched through the databases in GALILEO. STEER CLEAR of encyclopedias as sources.
It’s fine to start with an encyclopedia for basic information but move beyond encyclopedias to books
and articles. This is college, not high school. You should use the databases in GALILEO as a
resource. If you do a word search in the databases in GALILEO, search for any of the keywords in
your reaction paper topic, you will find a plethora of information. Any time you use a specific fact or
piece of information in your paper, even if it is paraphrased, it must be cited using a parenthetical
note WITHIN THE BODY OF THE PAPER, per the APA Publication Manual, Seventh Edition style.
At the end of your paper, you should include a list of all the sources you used for writing your paper.
If you are unsure how to properly cite materials, please check with your English teacher or with me
before the paper is due.
Penalties: Failure to use proper APA Publication Manual, Seventh Edition style citations in body of
paper, -10 points. Your failure to use APA Publication Manual, Seventh Edition style for the
References page will result in a reduction of 10 points. Failure to use at least five sources that meet
