Expected table of contents.

The case study will be designed to test the knowledge and skills of the students and will be based on real-life scenarios that the company is likely to face during its expansion. The case study will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

1.     Alignment with Strategic Objectives: The PM team’s plan should be aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.

2.     Cultural and Legal Sensitivity: The PM team’s plan should consider the cultural and legal differences in the countries where the company plans to expand.

3.     Innovation and Creativity: The PM team’s plan should demonstrate innovation and creativity in addressing the challenges of the company’s expansion.

4.     Clarity and Coherence: The students’ plan should be clear and coherent in its presentation.

5.     Feasibility and Practicality: The HR team’s plan should be feasible and practical in its implementation.

Formalities:

·       Word count: Minimum: 1,500Word count, Table of Contents, References, and Appendix are excluded from the total word count. Please include charts/ graphics if relevant.

·       Font: Arial 12pts. 

·       Text alignment: Justified. 

·       The in-text References and the Bibliography must be in Harvard’s citation style.

·       Use relevant vocabulary and concepts covered within the course.  

·       Use reliable sources of information.

TASK DESCRIPTION

It assesses the following learning outcomes:

You have just been hired as the new People Managing Director of a company in the Chemical Sector that has been experiencing exponential growth in recent years (currently there are 4,600 people) and with the anticipation of continuing to grow and acquire other organizations in the future (Up to approximately 7,200 people). The company has a national (Spanish) matrix organizational structure and has offices in other European cities. The objective of this expansion is worldwide; wanting to consolidate itself as the leader in the sector in other continents such as Asia, America, and Africa, especially. The CEO of the company has called you because he wants you to work on defining the people management (PM) plan during the next week so that you can present it to the shareholders and thus get them to invest a relevant volume in the company. Case development: You have been talking to the CEO and he has told you that up to now the people management department was made up of 7 people who were only dedicated to more administrative tasks (Payroll, contract management, etc.). You have agreed that it is necessary to review these functions and evolve them towards more strategic functions and thus evaluate if some of these 7 people should remain in more operational functions and which could occupy other positions within the evolved area of PM. In this sense, you have proposed that you review if they can assume new functions. At the organizational structure level, the CEO has confirmed that the shareholders are also expecting a sizing proposal about how many people should occupy the evolved PM area. It is key that the strategic plan defined for PM responds to the needs of the business because it will depend on the shareholders deciding whether to invest more money in the company. In this sense, you must specify and explain very clearly the reason for incorporating the defined initiatives into the plan.
