Define: The problem, population, concern or issues as it relates to the topic you have selected.
Literature Review: What do we know about this problem, population, potential causes, solutions, what do we know about this particular social problem, population etc. Ex. Recidivism
Intervention: Find and identify an evidence based intervention specific to the social problem / population that has demonstrated effectiveness in addressing this issue. Explain why you choose this specific intervention.
Define the intervention: What is the specific intervention you’ve chosen to address your identified issue? Why?
Describe the intervention: What is it? Who developed it? How is it implemented with this population? How easy or difficult is implementation? Does it require special training? Is it expensive? Feasible? Does it make sense?
Intervention Effectiveness: Is it effective in addressing the issue with your specific problem and population? How effective is it? What does the data suggest? Does it work with other populations?
Limitations: What are the limitations of this intervention? Are there special considerations? Are there conditions in which this might not be effective/ contraindicated? Are there things missing that could be helpful? Are there ways to improve upon this intervention? Identify any gaps?
Conclusion: Now what? What have we learned as it relates to this population, interventions, solutions? Gaps? Implications for the social work profession? What do we need to do next? How do we improve services / interventions for this specific problem / intervention? Provide reflective thought.
