CHAPTER 1 PAGE 1

Actually discuss the leadership
structure of the middle school.

George
M. Hampton Middle School is a public magnet school serving the Woodbridge
community in Virginia. It is in a big suburban environment, and the students
attend Grades 6–8. “It shall be the mission of George M. Hampton Middle School to
holistically educate all students in a positive educational environment. We
will challenge our students to reach high standards and assist them in evolving
into lifelong learners and responsible, open-minded citizens of the world
(
Hampton
mission statement
,
2023). The student population of George M. Hampton Middle School mirrors its
diversity initiative, with 93.3% of its students from minoritarian backgrounds.
George M. Hampton Middle School’s student body comprises 59.4% Hispanic, 23.7%
Black, 6.7% White, 6.7% Asian, 3.4% two races or more, and 0.1% Pacific
Islander (U.S. News, 2023). George
M. Hampton Middle is a magnet school consisting of
921 students, with
49% female and 51% male students, and 85% considered economically
disadvantaged. The school employs 79 full-time teachers, ensuring a
student-teacher ratio of 12:1, higher than the district average. Moreover, the
students can access three full-time school counseling specialists who provide
support services (George M. Hampton Middle School, n.d.). The school’s
leadership team is composed of administration members who are passionate about
students and, therefore, continuously drive toward student success and
well-being. The school implements many programs and services, including
tutorials, sports, and counseling, which align with the diverse requirements of
the student population.

CHAPTER 3 PAGE

·      Be clear on the rationale for using the survey. That
would be under the “Survey Procedures” section.

·      After you mention your 15 instructors, be clear on the
rationale for using those participants. You need to include a citation to
support your data analysis procedure for the survey. Per the checklist, you
also need to include a citation to the Claxton and Michael (2023) textbook in
this section.

Survey Procedures

The second data
collection method for this research will be a survey. This approach is used to
explore possible solutions to the low math test scores. Participant
determination, survey data collection, and post-survey data investigation are
all included in the strategy (Tomaszewski et al., 2020).

Data Collection and
Analysis

The sampling method implemented in this study will be purposeful sampling,
which guarantees the inclusion of diverse opinions and experiences among 15
instructors who will be chosen to participate in the study at George M. Hampton
Middle School (Tomaszewski et al., 2020).
Information will be collected by creating a web instrument to
generate a closed-ended, 5-point Likert scale. The survey URL, consent to
participate, the deadline for completing the survey, and instructions on how to
fill it in will be included in the email sent to the participants. Settings are
covered, as are individuals with impaired abilities. Based on that, answers to
each question will be reported on a scale ranging from Always to Never.
Additionally, average scores given by all participants for every question will
be examined. This analysis will serve the primary purpose of understanding the
present status of math teaching in the school and determining which areas need
to be improved. The following demographic questions and survey prompts will be
administered to participants (see Appendix C).

PAGE 39 CHAPTER 3

Per the checklist, you will need a
citation for the Claxton and Michael (2023) textbook in this section.
Technically, you are addressing everything on the checklist. But, I think the Methodologist
is going to want a little bit more about what you will be looking at. Just a
sentence or two more to discuss what you’re going to analyze (test scores and
attendance rates it looks like

Documents Procedures

The last data
collection technique for this research will be a document analysis. This
strategy contemplates how records could solve the problem of low mathematics
test scores at George M. Hampton Middle School. The records summarize each
student’s academic history comprising all required state exams. Ndukwe and
Daniel (2020) posited that documents are the basis for the facts that direct
the instruction after it has been clearly presented. The Virginia Department of
Education’s website provided insight into historical data for the last 4 years
(2020–2023), which includes participation records for the SOL tests and their
scores. The quantitative results of this report survey are noteworthy as they
extend beyond student performance on the SOL exams. The data attained via this
method will be incorporated as a trend chart (Ndukwe & Daniel, 2020). The
trend chart provides a visual representation of the trends and patterns in the
data, thus showing how test scores and attendance rates changed over the 4 years.
Along with the data from the study, the interviews, and the document analysis,
this approach will allow the researcher to get all the information on what
causes the low math tests at George M. Hampton Middle School.
