The research topic is (AVIATION HISTORY IN AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE)
The delivery and assessment of this module will involve researching, presenting of literature,
demonstrating critique, author analysis and evidence of academic underpinning.
This assessment enables you to demonstrate effective delivery of your findings from existing
literature on the selected research topic, in the form of an ACADEMIC POSTER.
You will be required to summarise the selected research topic, in the form of a poster
The poster should be designed with the intention of presenting your research topic and the literature to an audience of academics and subject-matter experts.
This assessment requires you to produce a poster which summarises your research topic and
literature exploration and review around it. You will need to include the following:
▪ Research topic
▪ Literature Exploration
▪ Discussion from Literature Review
▪ Conclusion and recommendations
▪ References
For example:
Research topic
Gives background information such as:
▪ What is your topic?
▪ Why did you choose it?
Literature Exploration and Discussion from literature review
▪ Summarise key findings from existing sources (preferably in graphical/visual form)
▪ If you borrow a diagram, make sure it’s referenced.
▪ What do you make of the existing literature? Arguments for and against, etc.
▪ Any literature gaps?
Conclusion
▪ Summary of key discussion points
▪ What have you learnt?
References
▪ Acknowledge data gained from other sources such as Books, Journals or the Web
▪ Use Harvard Referencing Style
Presentation hints:
▪ Keep the material simple.
▪ Be concise.
▪ Do not cram the poster full of info and cause it to be messy (A picture can say more than 1000
words)
▪ Be selective.
Format
You will need to present the development and findings of the literature review by means of an
academic poster presentation.
A poster session is a common term used in conferences. It enables people to present their academic
work without having to make a formal presentation. The poster is not exactly like an advertising poster.
but some of the techniques could be used to your advantage.
You are to produce an A3 poster focusing on the literature review around the research topic.
NOTE: I will need to present this poster and findings in a 10-minute pre-determined time slot. There will be 5 minutes allocated to defense of your subject matter; two markers will be viewing your poster. So I will be needing additional paper to explain the poster and the points in it, that I can use.
