Paper Topic: Should the U.S. use its military power to deter a Chinese invasion of Taiwan?”
I want to write my research paper on whether the U.S. should use its military to stop China from invading Taiwan. This topic is super relevant because of the current tensions between the U.S. and China, and how it affects not just those countries but the whole world, especially in terms of keeping peace and protecting democracy in places like Taiwan. I chose this because it’s a big issue in the news and it impacts how countries interact on a global scale. It’s interesting to think about what the U.S. should do, both because of the moral questions it raises and the practical outcomes it could have.
To do this, I’m going to look at why the U.S. might consider getting involved, what international laws would say about this kind of action, and whether it’s morally right. I’ll be digging into a bunch of different sources like articles, government documents, and maybe even some history books to see if the U.S. has done anything similar before and what happened. This project is really about trying to understand all the different sides of the issue and what it means for the future of international relations. I hope by the end of it, I can offer some clear insights into whether the U.S. stepping in would be a good idea or not.
