Research Project Age of Revolutions Douglass Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass

Age of Revolutions Douglass Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass
Literary Sources:
  1.   Do Unto Others as You Would Have Them
    Do Unto You
  2.   THE CIVIL RIGHTS LAW OF 1875
Research project Assignment: due 4/18
Research project: Choose any text from our syllabus and find 2 critical sources on that text, choosing
the best from the sources you find. Don’t google sources; instead, use the CCM literary databases
MLA, JSTOR, and Gale Literary Sources or the CCM book catalogue to find expert, reliable sources.
Don’t use reference materials; rather, use scholarly sources, either sections of books or journal
articles.
In a 3 page, doublespaced essay, summarize the main points of the articles and why you
chose these two; this will be submitted to Blackboard. You will also need to print out and hand in the
two articles (worth 25 points). Remember to use MLA format for the written portion of your
assignment, using Times New Roman size 12 font.
Make sure your documentation is correct. You must use intext citation and a Works Cited page.
Papers without a Works Cited will receive a zero and will be forwarded to the disciplinary
committee for plagiarism. Improper/incorrect format or documentation (intext or works cited)
on the research paper will result in a zero.. There will be a 10 point penalty if the Works Cited only
has authors and titles and a 5 point penalty for general errors on the Works Cited.

Remember, these sources MUST be LITERARY analysis, not psychological or biographical, etc. DO
NOT Google sources.
Websites like Poetry Foundation or a blog do not count.

Again, sources cannot be biographical or psychological. Also, dictionary definitions do not count as a
source, neither do other poems, or anything in reference materials such as Poetry for Students. Only
literary critical essays/books count. Works Cited page should include the secondary sources as well
as the text (primary source) your essay discusses.
