Your paper will need to be double spaced, Times New Roman font, 12-point font, 1-inch margins, with page numbers. In addition to the 6-7 pages of content, you also need to include a works cited or bibliography page. Make sure to cite appropriately using APA or ASA. Your citation format is up to you, just make sure you are consistent. Your research proposal should include the following sections for a total of 70 points. Up to 10 points may be deducted for incorrect formatting and/or incorrect citations. Plagiarism or a complete lack of citations will result in an F. Remember, you must use citations if you are quoting, paraphrasing, or using someone else’s ideas. Introduction (10 points, approximately 1 page): Here you should include your topic, your interest in the topic and why I, the reader should be interested in your topic, and your research question or questions. Literature Review (20 points, approximately 2 pages): Here you should make clear the theoretical context of your topic and question. What have other scholars done that is related to your topic? You should use the themes you created in Assignment 4 to organize your literature review. Towards the end of your literature review, you will need to conclude with your paper’s (potential) contribution to the literature, and your research questions and hypotheses. You contribution should present a strong argument as to why your research is important in both a practical and theoretical sense and tie back to the literature as well as your research questions. Data and Methods (30 points, approximately 3 pages): Here you will need to include the methods you will use to collect and analyze your data. Start with your unit of analysis, dependent variable, and independent variable(s). How will you conceptualize and operationalize each of your variables? How will you measure each of your variables? What method(s) will you use to collect your data and why did you choose this approach? What is your population and sample? Please be as specific and detailed as possible. Should discuss reasons behind methods, how methods will address research questions, and the potential strengths and weaknesses of each method. Should include a qualitative method and/or a quantitative method of data collection and any ethics concerns involved including steps taken such as consent forms, confidentiality, and plans to ensure ethical treatment of participants and findings. Discussion and Conclusion (5 points, Approximately 0.5 pages): Here you will wrap up your proposal by speculating what you expect your results would be and what the future of your project looks like. Should summarize proposal and discuss the timeline of project, possible limitations or issues (logistical, practicality, issues of validity and reliability, etc.) Should conclude with why the research should be conducted.
