Long term memory has been divided into two distinct memory subsystems, which are declarative (explicit, conscious) memory, and non-declarative (implicit, unconscious) memory. Procedural memory is an example of non-declarative memory, and refers to non-conscious, automatic memory of how to perform motor actions.
Procedural memory aids the performance of particular types of tasks without conscious awareness of previous learned experiences. Basically, Procedural memory guides the processes we perform, without conscious awareness.
In this paper you are to research the processes of long-term memory and provide an over view. Then you are to analyze procedural memory and provide an example of a skillset previously learned that is now part of your repertoire. (Example tying your shoe). You may not use the tying your shoe example.
