Rethinking Policing in America: Addressing Racial Bias, Injustice, and the Need for De-Escalation Training

Write an 8 page paper on a critical examination and analysis of this issue that focuses primarily on the topics of race, racism or racial justice: Police should have longer mandated training on de-escalation techniques, non lethal conflict resolution, and addressing racial bias because of the unequal arrest of people of color. For my paper I would like to explore and discuss the injustice that is our criminal justice system and those who patrol our streets. The policies that target minorities and the lack of training is immeasurable harmful to all Americans, but especially those who are black and of color. I will explore the reasoning for the disproportionate amount of people of color in our prisons and who benefits from it. This paper will above all address our policing system and why the need for more training is necessary. The paper must include some rigorous conceptual analysis of the concepts of race and racism, or racial justice at issue in the paper. Conceptual analysis means more than simply providing a definition. Your papers should clearly distinguish when you are writing about a concept such as race and when you are writing about the phenomena itself.
