RWS 100: Rhetorical Analysis of Two Texts that Feature a Significant Public Argument

(In-depth promt attached in files)

For this paper, identify and analyze the rhetorical strategies supporting the arguments made in

“Hip Hop Planet” by McBride and a song from Damn, another song by Kendrick Lamar, a Hip Hop/Rap song of your choosing, or a song from another genre of music. Focus your analysis on how these authors present their main arguments and give voice to marginalized communities. How do the rhetorical choices each makes create, enforce, and/ or disrupt power relationships? Also, evaluate the relative effectiveness of the arguments with respect to their intended audiences. How do the strategies each author uses contribute to the appeals of ethos, pathos, and logos? Finally, discuss how your assessment of the strategies each author uses lead you to consider the role of rhetoric in today’s world.

MLA format, typed and double-spaced, at least 4-5 pages.
