Introduction
Assessment 2 provides a comprehensive exploration of the Ethics Code for Psychology, its historical development, practical application, and guiding principles. Through the assigned chapters from Decoding the Ethics Code: A Practical Guide for Psychologists, you will gain a deep understanding of the code’s origins, its relationship with enforcement and law, and the core ethical commitments and virtues essential to the practice of psychology.
Building upon this foundation, the assessment delves into various ethical theories and models of ethical decision-making in psychology. Readings include Juntunen et al. (2023) on centering equity, diversity, and inclusion in ethical decision-making, and relevant sections from Decoding the Ethics Code to understand the steps and standards for resolving ethical issues.
Furthermore, Assessment 2 incorporates elements of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) training and solutions, examining the role of structured workshops and media analysis in fostering cultural competence. You will also review critiques of EDI training approaches. Refer to the following reading list to learn more about this assessment’s topics.
By the end of this assessment, you will have a solid grasp of the Ethics Code for Psychology, its application in ethical decision-making, and the importance of incorporating EDI considerations in psychological practice.
Introduction
At some point in your career, you will encounter a multicultural or EDI issue. It may be a conflict with a supervisor or a problem with one of your colleagues, clients, or students. You or someone you know may experience some form of bias or discrimination. A conflict may involve an individual, a group of people, an entire agency, or an institution.
In this assessment, you will:
- View the Assessment 2 Case Studies Download Assessment 2 Case Studiesand select one to analyze. Use an ethical decision-making model contained in the Juntunen et al. (2023) article “Centering Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Ethical Decision-Making” or the Fisher (2023) text Decoding the Ethics Code: A Practical Guide for Psychologists to provide a framework for your analysis. If the ethical decision-making model you select does not include the identification of potential biases that may impact the situation, incorporate this element using the Hays model exercise in Assessment 1 as a framework.
The deliverable is a 4–5 page double-spaced paper that contains an analysis of the case study you selected. In general, a case study is an in-depth report and analysis of events, activities, or processes involving one or more people in a situation. Working psychologists in multiple settings often consult with colleagues and managers on case studies to improve their professional competencies.
