Write an essay of at least 7 paragraphs, including an introduction paragraph (which provides a definite thesis statement) and a concluding paragraph. The essay must persuasively argue a certain position regarding your chosen current controversy.
The essay should offer information from at least 5 outside sources, and be MLA formatted including a title for your essay, in-text citations, and a Works Cited page. The writing should not use the 1st person.
Be sure to include proper parenthetical in-text citations. the paper must have a corresponding citation for each source listed on the Works Cited page. Sources on the Works Cited page should be listed in alphabetical order.
– Be sure your source material is well-integrated into your writing. To do so, introduce the quote or information by naming the title, the author’s full name, and the idea of the quote, place the information, and comment on the significance of the quoted information. This technique is called “sandwiching the source information” and ensures that it is well-integrated rather than dropped into your writing.
– Be sure your paper is presenting an interesting conversation – do not simply state the obvious, that which everyone knows. Your thesis statement in the introduction will indicate whether you have a thought-provoking topic since the one-sentence statement is focused (mentioning the subject), is specific (stating your topic focus regarding the subject), and states an opinion (not just a statement of fact).
– Reread your paper slowly and aloud to help catch typos editing errors and opportunities for revision. No first-person voice (I / To me …) should be used in the writing.
