You will write an intersectional analytical essay about a space in Hong Kong. You will cite assigned readings in your essay. Taking an intersectional approach that includes gender, and/or sexuality, think about the relationship between bodies and social, cultural, or political spaces. Your paper should answer the question:
Do spaces perpetuate inequality intersectionally, or do people shape their identities intersectionally through spaces?
In other words, do systems of power place an intersectional identity onto your body, or do you navigate social, cultural and political spaces to form your own intersectional identity? There is no black and white, or clear yes/no answer to this question. Your answer to this question will be your argument.
I’ve selected Chungking Mansions as the Space to work on. Please give a title to the ppaper.
You must reference at least two class readings in this section with proper citations. Use Chicago Manual of Style footnotes.
Detailed instructions and class readings are to be uploaded.
