******PRESENTATION IS ALREADY CREATED– WE ONLY NEED SPEAKER NOTES*********This is our topic for the conference we’re hosting online:
Leveraging Technology to Support English Language Learners in My Elementary Classroom:
With a growing number of non-English-speaking students in my school, technology can help bridge language gaps and support learning. This PD will explore practical tools for translation, interactive learning, and scaffolding instruction, giving strategies to help ELLs build confidence, stay engaged, and succeed in the classroom.
- It shouldn’t feel like a tool demo or tutorial
- (e.g., you shouldn’t present the bells and whistles of a certain tech tool or platform such as Kahoot!, etc.)
- For example, Kahoot! is an online assessment tool, it CAN be used as an example, only when your presentation topic is “Online Assessments”. Even then, you need to explain how and why it works (based on theory and research).
- We will coach you during this process.
- It should include research and theoretical support (i.e., you need to read literature and cite) to explain how and why something should or is working
- A rough outline can follow these steps:
- Description of your topic/need
- Data to support the need
- Literature that shows support of your topic
- Talk about how and why this tool/technology/approach is better (for digital interactive notebooks, need to focus on why digital is better, and why interaction is better, how does it help)
- Show and tell. If you have been using the tool/concept/approach in your classroom, give examples, show student work. Share student/colleague/admin feedback if available.
My partner, N. Bowman and I (S. Figuereo) will be hosting a conference and we need speaker notes that go with the presentation we already have. The conference must be at least 20 minutes long and it needs to be supported by resources. I will attach a document that my professor shared with his class that includes directions. If you scroll to the bottom of the document, you will see that there are youtube links to people’s presentations from last year. Just for reference- N. Bowman is a kindergarten teacher in Dekalb County and I teach Kindergarten through 5th grade Technology in Effingham County. Please contact me if you have any questions. Please make sure that the speaker notes are labeled by who will say what during the presentation.
One more thing.. I would like “buy some time” and include a section where N. Bowman and I can host a game or ask questions. something engaging that people who are watching can login and join in that goes with our topic.
The presentation is already created.. all we need is SPEAKER NOTES.
I have attached our slideshow and our presentation outline. All that we need is the speaker notes for my partner and I. The presentation needs to be at least 20 minutes long.
