Write a 3- to 5-page paper that includes the following three parts:
Part 1:
- Explain the insights you gained regarding the relationship between the national, state, and district statistics and the current articles on overrepresentation/disproportionality.
- Explain at least two evidence-based practices that would support valid and reliable evaluations to avoid overrepresentation/disproportionality in your specific district.
Part 2:
- Select two CEC standards related to evaluation. Explain the importance of each standard and how you implement them into your evaluation practices.
- Select two of the RWRCOEL Diversity Proficiencies. Explain the importance of each and how you implement them into your evaluation practices.
- Explain how both the CEC standards and the RWRCOEL Diversity Proficiencies align with each other and how they impact your professional practice.
Part 3:
- Explain how identified or perceived external factors may impact student learning, and the evaluation process.
- Provide a detailed example of how you can be an agent of social change through your Special Education evaluation procedures. For example, you may write about creating social change by working with families to understand their backgrounds prior to evaluating a student, reflecting on self-bias and changing your practice to avoid bias, or taking time to collaborate with a team to implement a valid and reliable evaluation process.
