Practical Proposal Prompt: Write a practical proposal offering a solution to a local problem. Write an 8-10 page paper that takes a stand and supports its position through the use of evidence exploring the problem, and justifying the solution, careful reasoning, and acknowledgement and analysis of counterarguments (how some one would argue against the problem or your solution). You need to show that there is a problem that needs to be addressed (discussing the causes and effects). You need to persuade your audience that your solution is the most effective strategy to help the problem. Identify a “local” problem and work with it. Your proposal needs to have a clear purpose with ample detail to support the purpose. (Introduction, Background Information, Problem/Need, Solution, Barriers/Counterarguments, Conclusion, Works Cited Page).
This paper should develop your argument on your topic. Your paper should clearly identify your issue. It should have a clear claim and well-developed reasons. It should use at least 4 appropriately cited quotes, at least 4 appropriately cited paraphrases (you may use more as needed), and a Works Cited page in APA format. Use long quotes sparingly.
