Write your summary in formal English. What were the author’s main ideas? You should
also include your own thoughts on the chapter in your concluding paragraph.
Make your final draft double-spaced in 12-point type and have a cover page and a bibliography (only one
book) as well as Chicago style footnotes.
Your cover page is to have the title of your essay, your name, student
number, course and section number, date submitted, your professor’s name , and the word count. (Your
word count should be 500 words. Do not go over or under by more than 50 words.)
You should have at least two direct quotations from the chapter, which you must
footnote in proper Chicago Style with the footnote numbers going after the
periods at the ends of your sentences.
Students are to write a 500-word summary of one of the chapters (1-13) of Colonel Chris Hadfield’s An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth.
