Summary Component (5 points each):
The summary component aims to help students identify and understand critical ideas about the course topics. It requires reviewing the course sources and writing a concise overview of all concepts, theories, policies, and/or practices listed in the CANVAS assignment for each module. The summary should be written in the student’s own words, citing relevant sources using APA. Students can use AI to make their work more efficient. The summary component will be graded using Part I of the checklist at the end of this section.
Evaluation Component (5 points each):
The evaluation component aims to assess the relevance of summarized ideas regarding an audience. It requires selecting an audience (i.e., teachers, administrators, students, and parents), identifying its needs, and setting communication goals. The evaluation component also requires identifying the most relevant information and explaining the identification process. Students can use AI to make their work more efficient. The evaluation component will be graded using Part II of the checklist at the end of this section.
Communication Product Component (10 points each):
The communication product aims to create an information source to effectively share ideas that contribute to offering quality education to multilingual learners. The communication product requires selecting a communication source, designing the information delivery, and writing professionally. It also involves presenting the communication source to the class, requesting feedback from them, and integrating it into the final product (see Assignment Rubric). Students can use AI to make their work more efficient. The communication product component will be graded using Part III of the checklist at this section’s end.
