ask question related to this topic

For this assignment, create a mock-group session, using volunteers to play the roles of group members. You will play the facilitator in this group session and record only the introductions portion of the group session.

Each group member has a role to play:
1. One member creates conflict.
2. One member is fidgety and anxious.
3. One member looks at their phone the entire time.
4. One member is angry and doesn’t want to be there.

Your volunteers will draw a number from a hat and not tell you which number they have drawn so the recorded session will be more realistic for you, the facilitator. Read the “Video Best Practices” document before recording your session. As the facilitator, you will do the following to show your GCU instructor that you know how to address group dynamics:

  1. Ask for introductions from the group.
  2. Welcome the clients and develop rapport.
  3. Identify and gently challenge any distorted and/or irrational beliefs or thoughts about the purpose of the group.
  4. Demonstrates verbal and nonverbal empathetic and active listening skills in the introduction portion of the group session.
  5. Address the group dynamics.

Record the mock session via Zoom. Provide the link to your recording and a summary (200-300 words) of the experience in the “Mock Group Session Video Recording and Summary” document. In addition, refer to Social Work Disposition #4: Value: Importance of Human Relationships; Ethical Principle: Social workers recognize the central importance of human relationships in your summary. Submit the document to your instructor.
