Term Project Part 7b: Line Sheet Details- Revised and completed line development

Product Developers use data to guide their recommendations or new products–data about what your target customers like and what would appeal to their values and lifestyle. They look at historical sell-through data, current selling data, and data on what’s selling at the aspirational price point retailers. Product Developers must look at the data and apply it to their future lines, while also staying within the brand’s image and applying the important elements of the brand to their new products to keep the brand cohesive.

NOW read the feedback and do know that in line development, you received feedback based on the following:

  • Each design was reviewed evaluated carefully based on the needs of the business
  • Those that do not meet the criteria established by the product development team are weeded out
  • The team settles on an assortment of product ideas that they believe will be most successful in the marketplace
  • Once approved, it is sent forward to technical design
  • Lines are developed either as items or as a group

🎯AIM

Edit your line (as would happen wiyt the merchansising and PD teams) and create a new complete line sheet that includes all final 5-8 styles on your line, each with style #, description, fabric/color, size range, and selling price for each style, as well as CAD sketches/images for the front and back of each product.

INSTRUCTIONS ⬇

🤔Step 1: Consider your feedback and revise your new line for the brand.

Create a revised line sheet of your editted line. Line editting is a major step in line development as not all our ideas can get produced!

Your final line should be 5-8 pieces that will:

  • Appeal to your customer base based on past and current purchasing

  • Be a good ration of basics vs. novelties
  • Have 1-2 adapted styles from historic bestsellers
  • Be at a price point that  makes sense for your brand’s customer base and that they are willing to pay
  • Be at the fashion level- the customer is comfortable with
  • And hitting the stores at the right time for the trend/colors/fabrics/styles

💃Step 2: Create your revised/edited line sheet!

Create a revised line sheet for your new edited product line.

The line sheet should include the following for ALL 5-8 styles in your final product line:

  • Front and back CAD sketches or images for each of your styles.
    • You can use Fashion SnoopsLinks to an external site. to search for and create your CAD sketches!
      • After logging in, click “Asset Gallery” and the “CAD” to select and download the sketches!
      • You can continue to edit the sketches in Photoshop or another photo editing tool.

Here are a few examples from a past student:

Plus here are a few other examples:

There are many ways your line sheet can look, but all styles should be lined up at the shooulders  (tops) or waists (bottoms) and all should be same proportion. Also – very importantly your should be formatted professionally to look amazing in your PD portfolio and have the same vibe as the rest of your book and work so far!
