The final paper is 2500 words (+/-10%, including notes and references, excluding abstract) and contains the following:
- An introduction that addresses the research problem and introduces a research question and main argument relevant to your field;
- A theoretical framework or literature review based on at least 5 academic sources from your field;
- Description and justification of method;
- An original analysis of a set of primary sources or data you have collected;
- A conclusion that briefly summarizes the argument and reflects on the contribution made;
- A structured, logical argument with clear connections between sections and paragraphs;
- Correct use of quotations, paraphrasing and references according to the bibliographic conventions preferred in your MA program;
- A title page with an engaging title and all relevant student and course details, as well as:
- the following integrity statement: “I hereby confirm I have read and understood the University of Amsterdam regulations concerning fraud and plagiarism. I affirm this paper contains my own work, completed without the aid of ChatGPT or similar tools.”
- an abstract of max 100 words that clearly summarizes the rationale and argument for the paper.
